How to fix WhatsApp exports
The date is already in the file name. ExportFix writes it into the photo or video.
What gets fixed
- Android names such as IMG-20200501-WA0001.jpg and VID-20200501-WA0002.mp4
- iPhone names such as WhatsApp Image 2020-05-01 at 14.30.00.jpg
- Date-only names stay on that calendar day in the timezone you pick
- Names that include a clock time stay on that absolute instant
How to do it
- 1Copy the WhatsApp images and videos, or export a chat with media.
- 2Add the folder or ZIP. ExportFix only needs the file names — there is no chat database to read.
- 3Preview the dates, then download the fixed copy.
Good to know
- WhatsApp file names do not include a GPS location, so none is written.
- A file whose name does not match is copied into _unmatched.
