How to get your export, and answers to the questions people ask most.

How to download your export

Snapchat Memories

  1. 1Open Snapchat → Settings → My Data.
  2. 2Tick “Export your Memories” and “Export JSON files”, then Submit.
  3. 3Snap emails a link within a day or so. Download every ZIP part: mydata—1.zip, mydata—2.zip and so on.

Google Takeout (Google Photos)

  1. 1Open takeout.google.com and choose only Google Photos.
  2. 2Zip file size and a size of 2 GB, then create the export.

  2. 2On iPhone, save the chat media to Files first.
  3. 3Files named like IMG-20190703-WA0012.jpg carry their date in the name.

Frequently asked questions

Will it change my original files?

No. ExportFix writes a new copy. The ZIP or folder you dropped stays where it was.

Does ExportFix upload my photos?

No. Everything runs inside your browser tab. No photos, videos, filenames or EXIF data are sent to any server — you can even switch off Wi-Fi after the page loads.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is nothing to buy and nothing to sign up for. A question on the Done screen asks whether you would pay $14.99 once for a few extras. That is a survey. ExportFix stays free.

How big an export can I fix?

A phone can fix about 1 GB or 300 files in one run. Chrome and Edge on a computer save straight into a folder with no size cap. Safari and Firefox download a ZIP of about 4 GB per run, so larger exports are fixed in parts.

Why are all my Memories dated the same day?

Snapchat’s download uses the day you exported, not the day you took the photo. ExportFix reads memories_history and writes the real capture date back.

Does it keep my Snapchat captions?

On photos, yes. ExportFix can burn the caption and sticker text onto a JPEG and keep the clean original beside it. Video overlays are not added in this version.

Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?

Yes. The date, and the GPS location when your export has one, are written into the HEIC — including files that had no EXIF block. Only a damaged file is copied unchanged.

Where do the fixed files go?

Into a new folder you pick, or a ZIP you download. The original export is not changed. Files with no date go in a folder named _unmatched.

Is there an app?

Not yet. The website is the product. On a phone you can leave an email and ExportFix will write once when an iPhone or Android app exists. That address is deleted within 12 months.

Is it affiliated with Snapchat, Google or WhatsApp?

No. ExportFix is an independent project. It is not affiliated with Snap Inc., Google or Meta. Those names are used only to describe which exports work.
